about

This is rebel music, Kromanauts came to defy stereotypes, defy genres, defy labels and defy expectations. The brand new 10-track album K2: The Holy Dose is just what you need to blow out the cobwebs in your mind and reconnect with your own rebel spirit. Be warned, this is no micro-dose, this is the full dosage, and it comes directly administered.

K2: The Holy Dose is Kromanauts second album following their 2018 album Nothing to Lose, and you can hear great musical depth and artistic maturity on the new outing. Following their debut album, Kromanauts toured the region and released a series of singles and remixes. All while exploring new musical influences and fusion sounds. In true fashion, Kromanauts defies simple categorization and the tracks on this album range from ska and rocksteady, to punk, rock and heavy funk.

Kromanauts bandleader Kanjia Kroma is on lead vocals throughout, with additional vocals by Candice Mills on Still Here and Kontac on Iron Long. Winko Powell from the DMV's legendary Junkyard Band plays congas and timbales on Legwork, Iron Lung and Dark Money. Amadou Kouyate lends both djembe and dun duns to tracks Babylon and Wahala. The Empresarios bandleader Javier Miranda adds congas to Worse Case Scenario and Dark Money. And Frank Mitchell of Three Man Soul Machine plays saxophone on Worse Case Scenario. In addition to their own talented core, Kromanauts have enlisted the creative talents of some of DC's brightest stars.

Kromanauts worked hard during the pandemic and have crafted 10 superb tracks showcasing their various moods and creative streaks. This body of music is meant to be listened to as a whole, together, one entire album of music that rides a vibe from start to finish. Of course listeners will find their own favorites, but challenge yourself to hear something new and listen to what the music is telling you….
